The nose opens with a riot of ripe peach, passionfruit and grapefruit aromas. The palate is broad and richly textured, with tropical notes, fresh citrus and capsicum underpinned by a mineral core. The concentration is superb, with layers of flavour unfolding to a lengthy finish. Though made to drink whilst it is young and vivacious, this wine may be cellared for up to three years to develop further complexity.
Perfect with Marlborough seafood including Cloudy Bay clams, Havelock Green Lip mussels or cold smoked salmon. Also divine with fresh herb dishes such as corn-fed chicken with salsa verde or lamb rack with a mint and macadamia crust.
