This Awatere Valley Pinot Noir is a soft ruby colour, with complex lifted aromas of plums, cherries and raspberries, with smokey cedar and earthy herbal notes. On the palate, notes of raspberry, cherry bakewell and tobacco abound. The wine has good balance with the fresh fruit acidity underpinned by the savoury, earthy notes that will emerge more with age.
Try this wine with pan seared venison medallions, or pheasant served with spiced red cabbage; or a wild mushroom ragu on fresh tagliatelle with plenty of parmesan cheese.
This wine is designed for immediate enjoyment but will reward patient cellaring of up to five years.
