This wine has been crafted from the most select parcels on Brancott Vineyard. The fruit concentration seen in these components has called for extended time in oak barrels – 20 months rather than the usual 11 months for Pinot Noir. Final blending was done through individual barrel selection, striving to create a bold, dark-fruited style with a savoury expression.
Though ready to drink on release, having had 28 months of barrel and bottle aging, this wine has the structure to age gracefully over the next six to eight years. Over time the primary berry fruit characters will give way to more complex savoury notes. It may be cellared for up to ten years to develop further complexity.
Best matched with rabbit, duck and other game meats.
