This exceptional wine shows ripe Nashi pear, apricot, peach and lychee notes on the nose, with a distinctly savoury element from toasty oak. The palate is broad, with beautifully concentrated flavours of opulent fruit, complemented by subtle ginger spice, fennel and vanilla crème brulee. The wine retains a citrus focused acidity with a hint of smoke on the finish.
This indulgent wine will be outstanding alongside some equally luxurious food matches. Try weighty seafood such as crayfish tails, simply steamed or grilled, with lemon butter, or scallops wrapped in pancetta. Butternut squash and pumpkin dishes will be divine, especially in a risotto with plenty of parmesan. A classic roast chicken with all the trimmings will be hard to beat for a crowd pleaser, and for later in the meal serve alongside semi-hard cheeses such as Emmental or Gouda.
