Reflection Sauvignon Blanc Sauvignon Gris 2016
Brancott Estate Dror
Reflection Sauvignon Blanc Sauvignon Gris 2016

This wine is inspired by the great white wines of Bordeaux, where Sauvignon Blanc is often blended with Semillon or Sauvignon Gris and barrel-aging used to deliver a rich, age-worthy wine style. Here we have blended Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris; both varieties pioneered in the region by Brancott Estate, and both perfectly suited to Marlborough’s growing conditions.

Reflection Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Sauvignon Gris makes a real statement. It has ripe peach, golden kiwifruit and tropical fruit aromas with intriguing touches of flint and white smoke. The two varietals play beautifully together on the palate, with the Sauvignon Gris providing a rich creamy approach and the Sauvignon Blanc tightening the finish with fresh acidity. The wine has a sense of opulence, with layers of flavour, savoury oak char notes and plenty of character.

Handharvesting, very gentle pressing of the grapes, indigenous yeast fermentation and the careful use of oak all contribute to the tightness of structure on this wine and its ability to age. Though ready to drink on release, having had 18 months of barrel and bottle aging, this wine may be cellared for up to ten years to develop further complexity.

Best matched with seafood generous in flavour, it is the perfect match with Cloudy Bay clams, Marlborough Green Lip mussels or cold smoked salmon.
